Meet our Early Stage Researchers: Anirudh Puligandla from University of Zagreb
Tell me something about yourself
Hi everyone! I come from a city called Hyderabad in India. I am 26 years old and I am fluent in 2-3 regional Indian languages apart from English. I like to believe that I can understand and speak a little bit of French. I started my career in Engineering with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and communication from Amity University, Rajasthan, India. After a couple of years (in 2016) I enrolled for a MSc. degree in Computer Vision and Robotics at the University of Burgundy, France. I got an opportunity during the master’s program to spend one semester each at Le Creusot (France), Girona (Spain) and Edinburgh (Scotland). I decided to stay at the same university in Edinburgh to work on my master’s thesis for the fourth semester. That is when I realized my passion towards research in Computer Vision, more specifically, in 3D reconstruction and visualization.
Apart from this, I am passionate about all kinds of music (classical is my favourite) and festivals, cooking, photography, travelling, hiking, spending time in the nature and a little bit of reading. I like to play lawn tennis, cricket and some board games and video games.
Why did you apply to ImmerSAFE project?
The choice of the PhD thesis topic is my priority. I am glad to have found a topic in the ImmerSAFE project that perfectly aligns with my research interest. The fact that this project provides us with more exposure in the form of tech days, training schools and secondments is an added advantage. I believe that this project stands out because of its applications in safety-critical scenarios and I like the goal of the project – i.e, to assist humans in such situations.
What kind of expectations do you have for your research project and network training?
I wish to make significant and noticeable contributions in my field of research using my knowledge in computer vision. I hope that my contributions will justify the title and the primary goal of the project. I also expect to learn much more and gain experience through the network by interacting and collaborating with the wide number of partners that are global leaders in their own field and the competent ESRs that strive to make their mark.
