Tamir Huberman, Chief information officer at Yeda Technology Transfer of Weizmann Institute
Tamir Huberman holds an MSc in Structural Biology and a BSc in Biology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as a diploma in Computers & Electronics. He is also a certified trainer of NLP from ABNLP (American Board of NLP).
Tamir is the Founder of THI. In addition, Tamir was appointed as Yeda’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Head of Marketing in December 2019. He is also the director of IT at ITTN (Israel Technology Transfer Organization) and brings over 20 years’ experience in core IT system implementation, deal negotiation and public speaking to Yeda. Prior to joining the Company, Tamir was the CIO at Yissum, (Tech Transfer of Hebrew University), served on the Board of Directors at InnerEye and was an Observer on the Board at BriefCam. Other positions he has held include, Co-Founder of Artigon, a member of the R&D team at Orgenics and Head of IP and R&D at MedisEl.
Prof. Alessandro Foi, Tampere University of Technology
Alessandro Foi received the M.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy, in 2001, the Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the Politecnico di Milano in 2005, and the D.Sc.Tech. degree in Signal Processing from Tampere University of Technology, Finland, in 2007. He is Professor of Signal Processing at Tampere University, Finland.
His research interests include mathematical and statistical methods for signal processing, functional and harmonic analysis, and computational modeling of the human visual system. His work focuses on spatially adaptive (anisotropic, nonlocal) algorithms for the restoration and enhancement of digital images, on noise modeling for imaging devices, and on the optimal design of statistical transformations for the stabilization, normalization, and analysis of random data.
He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of the Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, an Associate Editor for the SIAM Journal on Imaging Sciences, and a Senior Area Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging. He is the incoming Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing.
Dr. Robert Castagno, Head of IPR Neste
Roberto Castagno is head of intellectual property at Neste, the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel and renewable jet fuel refined from waste and residues, introducing renewable solutions to the polymer and chemical industries.
As the leader of the IP function, Dr Castagno is responsible for integrating intellectual property in Neste’s strategy and operations, in close collaboration with existing and new business, as well as with Neste’s innovators, inventors and partners. He is passionate about the logistics of ideas and the management of innovation. He sees patents and IP rights as key enablers in a knowledge-based society and enjoys operating at the nexus of intellectual property, technology and business.
Dr Castagno holds a PhD in telecommunications from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and a master’s degree (cum laude) in electronic engineering from the University of Trieste, Italy.
